Minister of IT and Telecom launches Breach by Amrita Chowdhury

Minister of IT and Telecomm, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad launched Breach, a cyber thriller by Amrita Chowdhury at The Park, New Delhi this evening. The author was in conversation with Lady Kishwar Desai, notable author and columnist on the book and safety in the online world.

Ms. Chowdhury’s book, published by Hachette India, is a compelling and edgy cyber thriller that explores the dark and dangerous underbelly of our increasingly virtual existence. The crime thriller is set against the backdrop of IP theft and cyber infringements.

While the book discussion talked about the egalitarian nature of the internet, it also highlighted sensitive nature of cyber crime and our susceptibility towards it. The minister stated that cyber criminal of today’s world is hundred yards ahead of us and the book is a timely reminder that we need to remain safe in the internet age. Lady Kishwar Desai also stressed on the lack of awareness about cyber laws in the country and need for stronger policies by the government to address it.

During the launch event, Amrita Chowdhury, the author of Breach said, “In India, we are seeing fast adoption of technology in a very short space of time, hence users are not aware of the risks of their online behaviour. I hope through this book, people will become more sensitized while enjoying a good story in a fun, racy thriller format.”
