Intex is Coming up with 6th Manufacturing Plant at Greater Noida

Intex is constantly expanding its customer-base and has successfully moved into many consumer electronics space. The overall revenue of Intex Technologies in FY 15-16 has been Rs 6213 cr. The CDIT business clocked a revenue of Rs 1000 crore in FY 15-16. Nidhi Markanday, Director, Intex tecnologies tells DT more about the company’s Plans.

DT: - What have been the key highlights of your company during the year 2016?         

A:-In 2016-17 Intex expanded its Consumer Durables portfolio with the entry into Refrigerators segment with Direct Cooling models and the fully automatic Washing Machine models. In the LED TV segment, Intex launched the Smart LED TV range starting from 32-inch to 55-inch UHD/4K TV and also expanded the Big LED TV range with 58-inch and 65-inch models.

In the IT Peripherals segment, Intex launched its Fake Notes Detector cum Currency Counting Machine and new range of speakers and headphones. Intex has 70+ models in speaker portfolio. Intex had earlier in July  2016 introduced Tablet – iBuddy, which has been well received in market.

DT: - Do you think that Government of India’s ‘Make-in-India’ and ‘Digital India’ programs are seeing the light of day?

A:-2016 saw every major mobile brand and manufacturer do everything to get into the Make in India temporary fad, and contribute towards Digital India. All the manufacturers whether domestic or International are trying to expand their footprints in this vertical. Intex itself has 5 manufacturing plants in India. which are located in Jammu, Baddi (Himachal Pradesh) and Noida (Uttar Pradesh). The company is coming up with its 6th and the largest manufacturing plant at Kasna, Greater Noida, spread over 20-acre land.

DT: - How will GST affect Intex?

A:-Being a manufacturing entity, Intex Technologies stands to benefit from a uniform tax regime, that GST is touted to bring to life. This will boost operational efficiencies, increase cost savings and make products more competitive. This will help in a major way to simplify the way we do business and will boost government initiatives on ease of doing business in India.

DT: - How does the channel help you to reach out to your potential customers?

A:-India is a geographically diverse country and to reach consumers across, big distribution network is required. To attain this objective Intex already have 1600 distributors, 80,000+ dealers and Intex’s branded retail division - Smart World recently opened its 100th store in Jaipur city and achieved this feat within 18 months of roll out. In its 18 months journey, started in April 2015, Intex Smart World has spread pan-India covering 80+ cities across 23 states.

DT: - What is your assurance for providing excellent service support to your customer?

A: -Being a 20-year old established brand, we understand the pulse of consumers and have always brought innovative products at competitive prices. Complementing this is Intex’s robust distributor & dealers network across India and after-sale service touch points. After sales service is something very important for us hence we have 1500 service touch points to serve our consumers across the regions.

DT: - What’s your road map or strategy for the year 2017?

A:-For FY 2017-18 and going forward Intex with a renewed focus on CDIT business aims to increase its revenue share from current 15% to 25% by 2018 and up to 50% in the long-term as overall contribution to the company’s revenue.
