FreeCharge & DDF Join Hands to ease e-wallet Payments 

FreeCharge and Delhi Duty Free Services Pvt. Ltd., a duty free retail space announced their partnership to enable e-wallet payments for international passengers at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport.

With the partnership, FreeCharge customers can shop and pay for over 1500 brands and 43000 products across categories like Perfumes, Cosmetics, Skin Care, Chocolates, Destination and fashion. Some of the famous brands making up the assortment at these shops include Hugo Boss, Armani Jeans, Swarovski, Police, Sekonda, Henleys, Godiva, Lindt amongst a plethora of others.

In order to pay through FreeCharge, customer needs to enter his phone number in the POS machine at the payment counter and provide the On-The-Go-Pin in the FreeCharge app to make the payment. The customer doesn’t even require internet connectivity on his mobile for such payments to go through as FreeCharge’s OTG pin works in offline mode as well.

Commenting on the partnership, Mr. Sudeep Tandon, Chief Business Officer, FreeCharge said, “We are proud to partner with Delhi Duty Free in the initiative of enabling e-wallet transactions at their outlets present at IGI airport. We want consumers across the country to experience FreeCharge payments right from the Kirana stores to shopping malls. Through the partnership, we are enabling FreeCharge as a payment option for International travellers and flyers at the IGI airport and hope to ease their payment experience across the Delhi Duty Free stores.”

Delhi Duty Free, which spreads over an area of 60,000 square feet and potentially witnesses 30,000 international passengers walking by on a daily basis has a great business potential for the partners to serve the international commuters.

Speaking on the same, Mr. Abhijit Das, Head-Marketing, Delhi Duty Free said "Post demonetization, customers seek different modes of payment & wallets are one among them. Freecharge is one of the most preferred wallet brand and its wide user base will help in creating awareness about the partnership. Other major benefit would be cash back offers from FreeCharge which will lead to nearly $4 saving making many purchases cheapest in region."
