Peripheral business is doing extremely well despite the recent decline in overall PC sales in India. The growing market of mobile devices, especially tablet and smartphone, has been again fuelling the growth in the peripheral market. Now a days, consumers look for Innovative products as per their need and prefer to go wireless for seamless connectivity. Logitech, a leader in bringing quality and innovative products, keeps working on the technology innovations to bring best solution for consumers. Mr. Ashok Jangra, Cluster Category Manager, India & South West Asia, Logitech, talks to DT and shares company’s strategy and channel plans.

Q: How do you see growth of IT Peripherals in Indian market?

A: According to a recent report by CCI (Corporate Catalyst India Pvt. Ltd.), the Electronics market in India is one of the largest in the world and is anticipated to reach US $400 billion in 2022 from US $6.9 billion in 2012. Additionally, the market is projected to grow at a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 24.4 percent during in the year 2020. The PC sales in India (desktop computers and notebooks) registered a negative growth of 10% over the last fiscal which might appear to be a challenge for the industry, however, it’s important to note that people who have smartphones or tablets want to move on to the next step even for their laptops or desktops which ensures the growth of PC Peripherals industry. The smartphone and tablet industry will do a big favour to laptop and desktop industry, and we will do fine in both segments.

Q: How do you fulfilling the demand of all set of consumers who are looking for innovative and good looking products?

A: At Logitech we design products keeping in mind the consumer needs that might be identified much later in time. According to us that is what defines true innovation. Additionally, product design plays a big role and is central to us when it comes to any product under various portfolios. As a brand we’ve always kept wireless PC peripherals as a focus however, with changing times, we are crafting a portfolio of products that go beyond PC peripherals - products that have a place in every aspect of your daily life. Take for example our range of wireless music products including the Bluetooth Audio Adapter, X100 and X300. We have recently launched the UE BOOM and Logitech K480 to the line-up. Logitech is putting the science of sound into products that can transform traditionally weak PC/Mobile/Tablet sound into a rich musical experience – and one that nearly anyone can afford.

Q: What are the products currently you are focusing apart from so large portfolio?

A: Currently we are extremely excited about our wireless category and the products that we have introduced under that. Starting from the recently launched UE Boom to the Logitech K480 every single product caters to a very unique consumer need. These devices are not only path breaking but are created keeping in mind the customers appetite and usage. Additionally, with products like UE Boom we are trying to target the market for audiophiles. If we look at Gaming, our focus is to provide gamers with the best gaming experience with the devices such as G29 and G310.

Q: How do you see the consumption of tablet accessories in India, especially for iPad?

A: Globally, the market demand for tablet accessories is mainly driven by the iPad users. We’re seeing a similar trend in India so our primary focus is also on iPad keyboards and covers. Logitech’s products such as Type+, AnyAngle and Big Bang for iPad users are already out there in the market and are being accepted well by the consumers with their attractive design and unique features.
