The Taiwan Excellence campaign 2012 in India organised by the Bureau of Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economic Affairs – Taiwan and implemented by Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), a non- profit trade promotion organization, announced the success of the Taiwan Excellence 2012 campaign as well as the winners of the SmarTEST! contest at a Press Conference in Delhi. The celebrations witnessed a large gathering of leaders from Taiwan’s ICT, home and sports & leisure industry, top executives from HTC, ASUS, BenQ & KARMA, dignitaries from Taiwan, India’s very own diva – Malaika Arora Khan and winners of the SmarTEST 2012! contest.
In sync with this year’s campaign theme – Creating an Excellent Home with an Excellent Lifestyle, a wide range of home appliances and sports & leisure products along with ICT products were introduced to the Indian market, which have received a heartening acceptance by the discerning Indian consumers. The Taiwan Excellence 2012 campaign kick-started in Mumbai early this year; engaging consumers and business associates across metros through various promotional activities that included a first-hand consumer experience of the latest and most represented superior quality products from Taiwan. Some of the key initiatives were: Consumer outreach through press conference, Taiwan Excellence Home & Leisure Experience Pavilion in major shopping malls at Chennai & Delhi, cross regional big Idea marketing event – The SmarTEST, EMMA EXPO in Bengalore, etc.
Wenchyi Ong, Representative, Taipei Economic and Cultural Center(TECC) in India, Government of R.O.C. (Taiwan), said, “We are delighted with the enthusiastic response by the Indian consumers and business associates to Taiwan’s products. The foremost objective of the Taiwan Excellence campaign is to increase awareness and showcase the ‘Reliability’, ‘Innovation’ and ‘Value’ strengths of Taiwan products, to a progressively aspiring audience base in India. I am proud to share that this year we have not only seen growth in the number of brand partners for the campaign in India viz. from 17 in 2009 to 32 in 2012, but has also achieved the objective of enhancing campaign awareness amongst the new age stylish Indian customers by over 25% from 2010 to 2011*.”
He further added, “Consumer spending in India will continue to roar, but we have to work very hard to capture this gigantic market. For Taiwan, India is a very important market and we will bring the best of ICT, consumer electronics & home appliances and sports & leisure products for the judicious customers. This celebration is a testimony to our constant endeavor to bring forth an extravagant treat for the Indian consumers by providing them with an opportunity to enjoy superior quality lifestyle brought about by ‘Taiwan Excellence’.”

This special occasion also marked the welcoming of the champions of The SmarTEST! 2012 contest - Gaurav Mittal, Akif Khan and Mohsin Batla represented Team India at the international contest and won cash rewards of USD 35,000 and premium products sponsored by Taiwan Excellence brand partners, showcasing exceptional sportsmanship! The SmarTEST! contest, as part of the Taiwan Excellence initiatives commissioned by Bureau of Foreign Trade, caught consumers attention in its target markets. This creative and fun campaign held across Indonesia, India, Vietnam, and Mainland China recognised and awarded the streetwise and most creative minds. National teams from India, Indonesia, China, and Vietnam showcased their team spirits and knowledge of Taiwan Excellence products in the finals at Taipei, wherein Team India emerged as winner.
